I am 72 years old, overall in pretty good shape. I stopped playing golf 10 years ago because my groin area on the left side was giving me pain, and I felt if I kept playing, I would not be able to walk in a few years. I have not been in great pain, but the situation has become worse over time. I tried bowling at a party. After 3 games (60 rolls), I realized this was a big mistake. I have had a little K-laser treatment for a couple of weeks, and things are somewhat better, but I can t walk a long distance, such as 2 or 3 miles without aggravating the situation. Also, I believe that the cartilage in my left hip has substantially narrowed over the years, and there is somewhat of a bone on bone situation. If I am sitting and move my leg, I have to do it very carefully, and often use my arm to help because there is some sort of muscular pain if I don t help with my arm. Also, if the change of position starts in the wrong direction, I have to instantly stop, shift a little to get the motion direction right, and then move the leg. For example, crossing the leg must be done very carefully. Is there any help to this situation? I am not very interested in a hip replacement, but my left side is not very comfortable for long walks or sometimes short movements, whereas the right side leg movement is fine. What is your advice?
