Suggest Treatment For Pain In Jaw After Removal Of Wisdom Tooth

Had my right wisdom tooth removed almost three weeks ago. Was told to rinse with salt so i did several times a day. Went in the following week for some cavity filling. Two days later the injection site for novocaine became a large sore. This was on a saturday so i went to a clinic and was prescribed amoxicillin for an infection. That monday i went to the dentist just to see what was going on. I was told it was an ulcer and to rinse with salt and use anbesol to ease the pain and that i would be fine. Its now been another week my jaw is in excruciating pain, top and bottom, also very sensitive, my ear is sore all the way to my temple.. I feel my dentist lied to me and i have a worse off infection

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that painful sore at the site of novocaine injection seems to be due to formation of an ulcer that can occur due to novocaine shot while can also be due to traumatic injury caused by any dental instrument caused during filling of the tooth..

Pain in jaw along with soreness of the ear and temple can also be due to any infected tooth or flaring up of infection at the wisdom tooth extraction site..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and is treated accordingly..

As of now you can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
You can also apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the sore..
Do cool compresses over the cheek..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
