General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The pain in knuckles with swelling indicates possible inflammation secondary to some sort of abrasion or unnoticed trauma or undue compression of some type. My guidelines in this regard:
- Remove the ring at first instance
- Apply ice for 5 minutes each 4 times a day
- Avoid hand in dependent position
- Avoid weight lifting with that hand
- Keep your blood sugar under control
- Take tablet ibuprofen (400 mg) after meals if no history of drug sensitivity provided no history of drug sensitivity

Do follow up for progress of the condition after 24 hours of above or early as per your need.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
