Hello. I have pain in my left butt cheek. i get up in the morning and can't put much weight on my left leg. after a few minutes, the pain subsides and i can walk around. What help can you provide? Should i put heat and/or ice my lower back and butt?? my PT thought it was a pulled muscle in my butt?? would it be a sciatica with no pain in the lower back? the pain started in my lower back and moved to the left butt cheek. i am taking prednisone, done today, a 5 day pack. my email address is YYYY@YYYY Thanks so much for the help

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Your problem can be hip joint or sacroiliac joint arthritis or Sciatica.A physical examination by an orthopedician is necessary to rule out the condition.X ray of hip joint and lumbosacral spine might be needed according to physical findings.Muscle relaxants like thiocolchicoside , NSAIDs like Aceclofenac and physiotherapy will give you relief from it.In case of sacroiliac joint arthritis local injection of corticosteroid injection like triamcinolone will help.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
