Hello,
Your left knee also might be affected by
osteoarthritis. Treatment options are NSAIDs like Ibuprofen, and
Aceclofenac daily once. If any gastric ulcer or kidney problems, please avoid NSAIDs and can use opioids.
Acetaminophen can be used for less severe pain. Topical NSAIDs like diclofenac gel can be used. Tab. Duloxetine can also be used.
Intra-articular pharmacologic therapy includes injection of a corticosteroid or sodium hyaluronate (i.e.,
hyaluronic acid [HA] or hyaluronan) or biologic agent (i.e.,
platelet-rich plasma [PRP]), which may provide pain relief and have an anti-inflammatory effect on the affected joint. Local anesthetics are often injected along with
corticosteroids, to provide immediate pain relief.
In
prolotherapy, small volumes of an irritant solution are injected at ligament and tendon insertions and in adjacent joint spaces over several treatment sessions. Many patients experienced significant reduction in pain. Oxycodone and acetaminophen with codeine are found effective. Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate have been used in Europe for many years and continue to be popular with patients worldwide.
Weight reduction relieves stress on the affected knees. Avoid stress on the joint by adopting correct postures. Heat on the affected joint provides slight relief in many patients. You can contact your doctor for intra articular injections.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
