Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter slipped on the top rail of a steel fence and her leg slipped away and did the splits causing severe pain and inability to weight bear after 3 days. She has to strap her leg to near the back of her thigh to move with crutches. I have been unsuccessful in getting her to a doctor. I do not think it is the hamstring. She heard cracking as it happened - like bone and tearing. The pain on trying to stand caused her to nearly pass out. She is an alcoholic, aged 52 years and we look after her. The reason she will not go to the doctor is because she is afraid of having to go to hospital, hence no drinking or smoking. She would need to go through detox, which we occasionally have been able to do at home with the help of the doctor and much Valium. There is no bruising and no swelling and it appears no soreness in the pelvic or hip area. She can put weight on her foot whilst in bed with her knee flexed right up.
