Suggest Treatment For Pain In Lower Half Of Body And Sleeplessness

my son is 12 yrs old wt 25 kg is having moving pain in lower half of body for past 10 hrs. pain position changes with posture ...goes from back to front or vice versa sometimes severe lasting 3-4 mins then decreases but never goes away. He returned from school saying that he sat under a window AC that was leaking drenching his books.Its summer here day temp 38 C hot n humid in Calcutta India. Gave him decolic, pain killer, applied voveron gel but to no avail. he is sleepless sometimes crying out in pain. Incidentally he never takes milk and doesnt like outdoor games. P.Ghosh

Hello,

The symptoms your 12 yr old son is experiencing are very vague and non localized. However, I would suggest the following:
1) If it is lower abdominal pain, it can be:
a) Appendicitis
b) Renal colic
c) Kidney stones
d) Mesenteric lymphadenitis
e) Intestinal obstruction
2) If it's in the both lower extremities, it can be due to the following:
a) Any lumbar spine problem leading to pain in both lower limbs
b) Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
c) Varicose veins
d) Gout
e) Deep venous thrombosis
f) Peripheral neuropathy

The pain sometimes may be stress related called psychosomatic pain. That may also be a dermatomal pain as in herpes zoster or shingles. Kindly contact a physician if the pain persists. He may need thorough examination.
