Suggest Treatment For Pain In Sternum After Injury
I fell off a ladder today at work. I landed on my right side. Hitting my right knee, elbow and right side of my head. Those injury s seem very minor. My concern is my chest on the left side from the sternum up to the collar bone area is very sore. I seem to have full movement of the left side shoulder and arm, but there is a poppingclicking sound when moved certain ways or even occasionally during breathing. Any ideas as to what the injury could be or course of action that needs to be taken. I don t have medical insurance, so any advice that could prevent a doctors visit would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and response.
Hello, It sounds like you may have damaged some of the cartilage that attaches the ribs to the sternum. Rest, use anti-inflammatory medication for pain and use warm compresses on the area. Try not to reinjure it. It should heal up on its own. If you have worsening pain or shortness of breath you may need to see a doctor Regards
