Hi,
Few causes of calf pains are
varicose veins, an minor tear in the muscle fibers, a strain to the muscle, arterial claudication (where the blood supply to the affected are is reduced), neurogenic claudication (when the
nerve supplying the area is pinched or pressed at any place in their course from the
spinal cord), compartment syndrome(swelling in the area after a severe trauma) and deep vein thrombosis( a clot in the blood vessel)
Of these, I could think of either the varicose veins or any minor trauma to the muscle which would have happened without your knowledge. Deep vein thrombosis has already been ruled out by your scan. The arterial claudication pain usually happens when u walk and compartment syndrome happens when you suffer from a major trauma.
You can get the varicose veins ruled out by your treating surgeon and if it comes normal and the pain sustains then I would advise you to get an
MRI of spine and leg done to rule out the neurogenic cause. If the pain is due to muscle fiber tear or strain of muscle then it would subside in few days time with proper rest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
