Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Foot And Ankles

In the left foot, pain started in the instep, moved to the ankle. It feels like something is out of joint when I walk or bend my ankle; then it goes away. The pain is now just above the ankle on the outside of the left leg. There is no injury. 71 years old, 5 7 tall, 169 lbs. I experienced a similar pain in the same area on the right leg but is bothering me very little now. Sometimes my left ankle collapses on me from pain when I walk.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain in your foot and ankles can be arthritis or achilles tendinitis, being overweight. Maintain weight, keep your foot elevated on a pillow while you are on bed and on a stool while you are seated, avoid standing for along time and restrict salt intake in your diet.

Visit ER, get tests for RA and a general health check up done. Your treatment will depend upon your diagnosis. Take vitamin supplements and Acetaminophen (Toluene) for relieve from pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
