Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having mouth pain in the back on the left jaw, upper and lower after having a tooth prepared for a crown by my dentist. At first my ear was sore on the inside and up my temple to above my left eye. I went to my medical clinic for urgent care on Saturday. The doctor said it was infection and gave me amoxicillin and said to rinse my mouth with mouth wash every six hours. That took care of the ear, temple, and pain above the eye. I still have the jaw pain, can't open my mouth far enough to get a spoon in, and when I chew I have pain (8).
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain pain in jaw after getting tooth prepared for a crown seems to be most probably due to accidental opening of the nerves that are present in the centre of the tooth due to over cutting of the tooth structure..
In case if the tooth was infected, then the other cause can be that the infection in the tooth is not completely resolved leading to flaring up of infection causing inflammation and tooth abscess formation..
You should consult your treating dentist and get evaluated and get an x ray of the tooth done.. In case if there is infection and tooth is not treated with Root Canal Treatment then getting Root Canal treatment done followed by antibiotics and painkillers can help..
In case if there is opening of the nerve fibres then in that case also Root Canal treatment has to be done and after the pain and swelling is completely resolved then only capping has to be done..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
