Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Lower Back Area

I have developed a pain in my lower back/left hip - I think it is muscular as I cannot take a deep breath. I have recently started guitar lessons and wondered if it may be the unusual sitting position this requires. How do I relieve the pain? I am a 76 year old woman.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The origin might be due to abnormal posture however X-ray lumbar spine to look for any bony or spinal cause should be done. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen along with muscle relaxants like tizanidine or orphenidine can be helpful. Physiotherapy, postural care etc may also be needed.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
