Hi,
Noted your history about trauma to neck, painful swallowing, when stressed or on pressure, more so in the morning.
Trauma to the neck causes inflammation to spread in the muscles and in between the muscle planes.
This edema causes pain while stressing, or any movement that causes the muscles to act.
There is a possibility of edema and inflammation to spread to the internal part of pharynx and thus cause painful swallowing.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult your Doctor and request for clinical evaluation and get started on anti-inflammatory medicine with painkiller actions.
Referral to the ENT Surgeon for
endoscopy and may be
CT scan of neck to know the extent of trauma, edema and so on.
Continue the medicines as advised.
Avoid movements of neck.
Take rest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
