Suggest Treatment For Pain In Upper Right Chest Area And Left Arm
I am having pain in upper right chest area and down left arm lasting for a couple of hours. I have had previous heart attack and am on medicine for that. I just took a nitro and it did not relieve the pain--how long should I wait to see if the pain goes away-it could just be gas, correct?
Chest pain can be a sign of a serious condition such as angina, a heart attack, or a blood clot. If nitro is not working within 30 minutes to an hour after taking it, it is better to be safe and get checked out by a medical professional to determine the cause of the pain and receive appropriate treatment.
As you have a history of heart attack and are experiencing chest pain, do not wait to see if the pain goes away on its own. You can call your doctor or go to the emergency room right away. Meanwhile, I also recommend to take an antacid, and observe if any betterment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
