Hi Dr.Rynne, I am having pain in the back on my left side near my waist. It seems to have started today and began hurting as I was walking in the grocery store I might have pulled something as I am preparing for a move, but it doesn t seem like a muscle strain.
The pain you are noticing is likely due to ureteric stones. Please be advised to follow up with the urgent care to undergo urine analysis, culture, Xray kidney, ureter and bladder to confirm the diagnosis. Drink plenty of water to help pass the stones. Use a strainer while urinating to see if you pass the stone. You can also take buscopan 10 mg thrice daily for pain. Depending on the size of the stones, procedure to break up the stone may also be warranted. Sometimes diuretic therapy also will be needed.
Hope this answers your question Please let me know if you need further clarifications Regards Dr.lekshmi
