Suggest Treatment For Pain On The Ankles

I have a dent about 2 inches above my ankle on my right shin. It s about an inch in diameter. It is deep into my shin and I have little to no fat between the skin and the bone. I hardly feel any muscle as well. It doesn t really ever hurt but occasionally it does. I used to get shin splints from playing sports. Can this impact what is happening? I haven t played sports since high school- 12 years or so. I just recently found this invention- maybe 2 months or so ago. What can this be caused from?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would like to give diagnostic test: 1. X-Ray of Ankle. 2. MRI of the Ankle

I would like to see all the possible causes of this dent from muscles to bones. As you are an active sports person, I must not miss any chance.

And Yes, please do not continue any heavy activity until it is confirmed.

If you feel too much pain, for now, you can take Ibuprofen 300 mg as needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
