Suggest Treatment For Pain Post A Tooth Removal

Hi, I'm 31 years old. For the past few days, I have been experiencing discomfort from biting my cheek. I suppose it's my wisdom tooth. I have never experienced any problems with my wisdom teeth in the past and wonder why it's taken so long for it to be an issue now. I also wonder if I have to have the one causing discomfort extracted.

Thank you

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that discomfort from biting the cheek that is occurring recurrently seems to be most probably due to buccally erupted wisdom tooth that is a wisdom tooth that erupts towards the cheek and causes biting of the cheek..

It causes tearing of he cheek mucosa leading to inflammation and ulceration and thus it becomes painful..
It is also possible that the cusps or the tips of the tooth are sharp and they are causing recurring tearing of the cheek mucosa leading to pain..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

If wisdom tooth is not aligned properly then extraction/removal of the same can help..
In case if there are only sharp cusps then Coronoplasty that is trimming of the cusps can help in preventing cheek bite..

As of now you can apply numbing gel like Lignocaine gel over the sore mucosa of the cheek to relieve pain and also do cool water rinses to reduce inflammation..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
