Suggest Treatment For Pain While Breathing When Suffering From Cough

I have had chills and a headache on and off the past 3 days with an intermitted cough. I've take ibuprofen and Mucinex-D. I got some good rest last night and now that I am up when I take a deep breath to clear my lungs as I take in the last of my breath to fill my lungs it hurts as I breath in and it makes me cough as I breath out.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The pain on taking a deep breath may be related to pleuritis or pleurisy.

This is inflammation of the pleura. It can occur in different settings including viral infections such as that causing your cough/headache/chills.

The use of anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen, cataflam or naproxen is normally recommended.

You may also want to use a cough medication to reduce coughing because this can irritate the problem.

I hope this helps
