Suggest Treatment For Pain While Swallowing And Swollen Lymph Nodes

I have extreme pain when swallowing and my lymph nodes are extremely swollen. I also have pain around my lymph nodes and it is very uncomfortable. There is a large red bumpy mass in the back of my throat and my tonsils are swollen. These symptoms have been present for 8 days now and I have had no relief with cough drops or throat sprays. I am not sure if it is just a viral infection or something more serious like strep or mono- trying to avoid a trip to the doctor if necessary.
