Suggest Treatment For Pain While Taking Deep Breaths

Hi, my husband has been experiencing new onset lungpain while taking deep breaths concurrent with neck and shoulder pain. His lymph nodes feel spongey upon palpation. He has been sick for two weeks and on antibiotics for five days. We are unsure as to whether or not this requires a second doctor s visit. What would be your recommendation?

Hello,

Pain on taking deep breaths is indicative of RTI, bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy or tuberculosis, etc.

Pain in the shoulder & neck is commonly due to cervical spondylosis(osteoarthritis), herniated disc, pinched nerve, frozen shoulder. Posture & sleeping position also matters.

You are suggested to get your husband clinically examined by a GP & get sputum, blood & imaging tests done to rule out RTI & COPD. For neck and shoulder pain he may be referred to an ENT.

He can take Acetaminophen (Tylenol), one sos when pain & continue to take the prescribed medicines by the treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
