Suggest Treatment For Painful And Itchy Swelling On Hands
I have swelling in one of my hands, and a 1/2 inch red line that makes a V on my lower arm. It is painful and itchy. I just got out of the hospital a few days ago having had IVs. The nearest emergency room is 3 hours away. I have taken 50 mg of Benadryl. Is the ER my only option?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful and itchy swelling on hands . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query likeallergic reaction from chemical , psoriasis , contact dermatitis or but bite . I would suggest you to consult apply ice pack , keep your hand elevated and give your hand proper rest . I would suggest you to consult general surgeon for proper examination. Apply a steroid ointment over the swollen area to reduce inflammation, you can also apply calamine lotion to reduce irritation and soothe the skin.In case if there is no improvement or the swelling exaggerates consult a dermatologist and he can advise you injectable anti-allergics and steroids for faster relief from the inflammation and swelling.
