Suggest Treatment For Painful Bowel Movement, Bleeding And Anal Discomfort
I have been ill with flu for one week so far. Today I opened my bowels for the first time in the time. It was excruciating pain as I could not pass the stool it was so large. It took more than 15 minutes to pass and there was tremendous pain and discomfort with blood also. I am laid in bed now with much discomfort pain and fullness in my bottom. I am taking powerful prescription painkillers but still I have pain. What can I do please?
This happens because of hard stools. This will get relieved soon in 3-4 days. May consider stool softeners like Cremaffin plus 10ml at nigh time until the pain resolves. Because there is a cause, no need for further evaluation now. Only if the pain and blood persists for 2-3 weeks or pain is intractable, you will have to see a gastroenterologist to rule out anal fissure.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Praseetha Narayanan, OB & GYN Specialist
