Suggest Treatment For Painful Bump At The Base Of Skull

I have a bump on the back, left side of my head. I don t remember being hit or having hit my head on something. But whenever I touch it, it hurts and is tender. I have been having a headache all weekend and just noticed it a couple days ago. Can you help me?

Thanks for writing to HCM.
Tender bump what your are complaining of present at the base of the skull could be an infected dermoid or sebaceous cyst.
It needs to be excised surgically under local anesthesia as a minor surgical procedure. Also you need to take anti-inflammatory analgesic and antibiotic course for complete recovery from it after it is surgically removed.
Kindly consult Surgeon in this regard for proper evaluation and management.
