Suggest Treatment For Painful Constipation In A Child

Hi. My 9 yr old daughter is in a lot of pain. Went to urgent care this afternoon and the dr was pretty sure it is constipation. She has no fever but has pain in her lower right abdomine and is vomiting. When should I take her to the E.R if at all?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, she should go to the ER to be assessed. You can take her as soon as you can because constipation does not usually cause vomiting unless the person is very very obstruction due to a blockage.

This means that there may be another cause of her symptoms.
She would need to be re examined and imaging of the abdomen may also be needed as well.

I hope this helps
