Hello,
Painful knee with swelling commonly occurs due to medical conditions like OA, RA, gout, infections, torn meniscus,
tendonitis, ruptured ligament or torn
cartilage, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get blood tests to detect OA, RA, gout, etc. Your treating doctor may recommend to do imaging tests. You will be treated accordingly. Avoid addictions if any.
Physical therapy and knee braces also can help relieve
knee pain. You can take NSAIDS, Combiflam, one SOS when required.
Gentle massage and local application of pain relieving ointments and sprays are effective. Warm compress may help. Feeling light headed and shivers may be indicative of low BP,
dehydration, low blood glucose, etc. Stay well hydrated and well fed. Take ORS and warm beverages to normalize your body electrolyte system.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
