Hello,

You are suffering from painful knuckles after injury. Presently, you have tightness in your hand. Your hands are swollen and have a knot in the palm of your hand. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedics. Get X-ray done, if required you may have to get MRI done. In case of dislocation or fracture, you will be treated and managed urgently.

If ganglion cysts or Dupuytren’s Contracture is detected. it will be treated accordingly. It may be tendonitis. Tendonitis is a swelling of the stretchy bands, it can be due to injury or hurt. It can also cause pain around the joint. You can apply ice on the affected area. Applying ice to sore knuckles can help reduce swelling and pain.

Taking pain relievers like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen can help ease pain. In severe cases, surgery may be required to repair the damage in the joints of the knuckles. To prevent hands from getting injured wear gloves. Take proper nutrition like diet rich in calcium, vitamin D & C to help keep joints healthy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
