hello, i have hurt my wrist 2 months ago by getting up off the bed i put my weight on my wrist to push myself up off the bed and my wrist went out from under me. about a month ago I noticed a lump on the side of my rist right below my thumb, it is very sensitive my hair even hurts to touch it. i have pain all the time but it gets better when i dont use it. I do have autherites, but I dont take medicine for it.
Hello, Thank you for using HCM. If you have a lump at your wrist it very likely is ganglioncyst. In your case You can use pain killers and immobilize the joint to help with pain and if no improvement surgery would be needed for definitive treatment. If it is not very painful and the cyst has been there for a short period of time and has thin walls pressing over it to burst it, might have a cure rate of 40%. Also numbing the area and doing aspiration of the liquid has a 40 % cure rate and 85% if aspirated 3 times. Aspiration should be done by a medical staff and never try to puncture it yourself- it is a high risk of infection in the joint. Hope this is helpful and answers to your question.
