Hello,

Since a week you are experiencing numbness, pain, tingling, itching of the upper thigh. You are also having burning sensation. Painful numbness, tingling is indicative of developing neuropathy, the nerves are getting affected. It can be due to deficiency of vitamin B6, B12, folate, include these in your daily diet. You can also take supplements.

Get physically examined by a neurologist. get nerve conduction velocity tests done, get required blood works, EEG, etc., done. You will be treated accordingly. Yes, shingles may present with such symptoms as it also affects the nerves. Shingles causes pain, burning and discomfort. You should get tests for STD and HPV done. If tests are positive you will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals.

You can apply a thin layer of Soframycin ointment on the area affected. Applying ointment Zovirax on the area affected also works well. Get treated. Stay away from addictions if any. You should take care of your hygiene, wear soft cotton clothes. Take food that is nutritious and home made. Avoid taking oily, spicy, junk food.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
