Hello,

Yes, you should be concerned & have lab tests done to detect the severity of the disease & spread. Get swab & herpes blood tests (HerpeSelect ELISA) done.

Medications like Acyclovir, Famcyclovir are effective.

Herpes infection is indicative of weak immune system. If treatment is neglected it may spread to the nerves causing neuralgia that may cause facial herpes or spread causing Otalgia in the middle, inner or external ear.

Avoid multiple sexual partners. Always have protected sex. Avoid sex till you are being treated. Do not share your used items with others, avoid direct physical contact, kissing, oral sex & take care of your hygiene.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
