Suggest Treatment For Painful Swelling In Knee After Injury

I fell today and hit my knee pretty hard. At first I thought it would be ok, but about a half hour later it was like a golf ball. I have been icing it and the swelling has gone down,nut then it comes back at times. I can walk and flex my leg fine. Am I treating it correctly?

Hi,
You have been treating the swelling correctly but I am not sure if you have ruled out a fracture of the knee bone (patella). If you haven't taken an Xray I would suggest you to take one and meet a doctor to rule out any pathology underlying.
