Suggest Treatment For Painful Swelling In The Hands, Feet And Ankles

For the last several months, I have had these symptoms that have gotten progressively worse. My hands, feet, and ankles swell (elevating my feet doesn t help). My right shoulder, elbow, wrists and hands (right and left) with a knot on the top of my right hand have terrible pain. I cannot raise my right arm more than midway, due to the pain. The joints in my wrists and fingers is very bad. Also my knees swell, and ankles and feet. Joint pain is very bad in knees (can barely get up from a sitting position, as knees feel as if they are tearing apart at the joint. My ankles hurt and swell, making it difficult to walk and keep balance, and joint pain even in the joints of my toes. Is this Rheumatoid Arthritis? How do I regain my mobility? What treatments are available? Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the painful swelling in hands, feet and ankle may be indicative of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.

Differential diagnosis requires other symptomatic details as morning stiffness, presence or absence of extra-articular symptoms, type of damage to joints as well as specific antibodies if present in the blood.

Kindly consult an expert rheumatologist for further workup and best possible guidelines to control it in best possible manner.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
