Suggest Treatment For Painful Swelling On Side Of Rib Cage
I slipped and fell today and hit my side rib cage in the table really hard. It started to get swollen I applied ice instantly so the swelling went away. Now it still hurts a lot but no swelling or bruising of any sort and usually I bruise very easily I also bruised my knee in the fall and it bruised within a couple of hours. Should I be worried?
You are suffering from painful swelling on the side of the rib cage after you fell today and hit against the table. You are suggested to take Combiflam or Naproxen, one stat when needed to get relief from pain and to help get the swelling reduced. On the bruise, you can apply ointment Thrombophob, on the area affected to reduce any blood clots below the skin.
You can apply pain relieving sprays. Stay at rest, do not do any heavy work and avoid lifting any heavy weight. The pain and swelling should get reduced, if it remains persistent, get clinically examined by an Orthopedics and get X-ray done to detect any fracture or injury. If needed you may have to get MRI/CT done to study details on ligament or tendon injury, inflammation or tear. You will be treated accordingly. Stay away from addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
