Suggest Treatment For Painful Swelling On The Knee

About 6 years ago I twisted my knee. I went to a trainer for a high school who said he thought it was a sprained LCL. But I have recently done it ab 3 or 4 times.the last occurrence was a week and a half ago. The pain is still there but feels better than did and it s still a little swollen. Is it worth going to a doctor about after all the swelling and pain is at a minimum?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Swelling and pain of knee joint need to be investigated.
An injury in the past could be the cause of current pain and swelling.
Injury to any structure of the knee joint- meniscus, cruciate ligaments or collateral ligaments can lead to pain, restricted movement and swelling of the knee joint.
A clinical assessment by an orthopedician is required followed by investigations like MRI.
If the fluid collected in joint space is large enough, the fluid may have to be aspirated.
If any injury is detected on MRI, repair of injury will have to be done.
The first step is to find out the cause and type of injury.

Thanks and take care
