Suggest Treatment For Painful Swollen Arm After Injury
rabove my wrist, where the two tendons run up your arm got slammed and stuck in a door. it had a lot of pressure on it for about a minute. above my wrist on the lower part of my arm is swollen. it has turned black and blue and is in alot of pain. It is swollen all the way around my arm . its painful to move my thumb. Should I have it looked at.
Please get an X-ray done to rule out any scaphoid or any other bone fractured during the injury. To get relief of the symptoms I would recommend application of ice over the area in addition to elevation of the affected part above the rest of the arm. Also you should use a splint for the area which will provide immediate relief.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
