General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Please get an X-ray done to rule out any scaphoid or any other bone fractured during the injury. To get relief of the symptoms I would recommend application of ice over the area in addition to elevation of the affected part above the rest of the arm. Also you should use a splint for the area which will provide immediate relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
