Suggest Treatment For Painful Tooth Abscess

Hi,
I have a tooth abscess (?, there's a bump on my gum below a tooth I had a root canal on previously, doesn't hurt unless I push on it). My dentist prescribed me amoxicillin and I completed the full week but the bump didn't go away. Two days ago I went back to the dentist and he went back into the tooth and put medicine in it and put a temporary filling. I have to go back in two weeks to see if it's better or needs further medicine. My question is: is this contagious? Specifically is it oki to kiss or engage in oral sex or do I have to wait until the bump is completely gone?

Hi..

Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain it seems that you have a dental abscess formation that is due to pus accumulation below the root tips of tooth leading to pressure over the nerves and causing severe pain..

As Root Canal Treatment is being done again , gradually the pus will drain off and infection will subside leading to relieve from pain and swelling..

It is not a contagious infection and will not cause and problem in case if oral sex is performed..

As far as the tooth is concerned you need to get the tooth treated properly and capping should be done only once the bump completely resolves and also continue taking antibiotics for faster relief..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
