General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If ascites is there, it means he has a stage 4 disease. Your dad requires a detailed assessment by an oncology physician to look for his fitness level and the type of treatment he will be able to tolerate. Few patients are fit enough to tolerate chemotherapy that will prolong their survival.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
