Suggest Treatment For Pancreatitis And Seizures

My mom had a stroke, pancreatitis and began having seizures. They put her in a medically induced coma for 10 days until the seizures stopped. They weaned her off the medicine nearly 2 days ago and she still isn t showing signs of waking up. No eye fluttering, moving her fingers or toes, NOTHING! Is this normal?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello,

I am really sorry about your mother. In order to say whether it is expected for her to wake up more information is needed I am afraid.

It is important to know what type and severity of stroke she's had.

A stroke leaves behind permanent brain damage so if the damage is very extended or affects conscience areas then it may take longer and there may be permanent consequences.

If the extent of a stroke on imaging is minor or moderate then there is hope for her to recover.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olsi Taka, Neurologist
