Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello doctor, My mom was suffering from left-side stroke(paralysis) since 2 years. totally her left side hand and leg are not working. she is able to shake her left leg front and back in she sits on a chair. discontinued treatment from 8 months ago. Is there any possibility to start treament again and cure her full?
You are suggested to get her a follow-up medical examination done by a Neurologist. She will have to go through blood tests (D-dimer, etc.) and investigations (X-ray, CT angiography / doppler USG scan, venography, etc.). The tests will help to diagnose the Clot or MS. She will be accordingly treated with medicines along with Physical therapy that will help her improve.
Neglect will worsen the symptoms. Physical therapy will help her to improve the mobility, stimulate nerves and muscles. Massage therapy, speech therapy will be helpful. Orthotic devices will help. Psychotherapy will also be helpful to stabilize her emotional and mental challenges. Wearing compression socks and stockings can also be helpful but response varies from patient to patient. Do not force if is feels uncomfortable.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
