hello doctor, maa grandma is suffering from mental disorder like she is scared of being alone and she keeps on saying that somebody is here taking away all the things ...we are giving her sleeping pils from yesterday..and she just wanna hide herself..we ar very tensed about this behaviour of her ...please suggest me what to do in this kind of situation and she is 88 yrs old n she is sugar pateint..
Your grandmother may be suffering from a delusional disorder or dementia. "Someone is stealing my things" is a common delusion in dementia. You should not give her sleeping pills as they may worsen her dementia. They also increase the risk of fall. You should take her to a psychiatrist who will be able to evaluate her and give proper treatment. Hope this answers your question.
