General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Mostly on clinical examination alone you dermatologist will be able to tell you whether the lesions are fungal in origin or eczematous.

In this case, it might be caused by a contact dermatitis to external allergens coming in contact with your hip region.

In certain cases, the diagnosis can be confirmed for the fungus by doing a skin scraping and examination/culture of the material obtained.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
