Suggest Treatment For Pencil Injury On The Face

Hello. My daughter fell earlier in the day and landed on a pencil. It seems as though she injured part of her face since it has a deep puncture wound. Her father and I want to know if we should seek immediate medical attention. I know it happened earlier, but it is almost bedtime and we don t want to wake up afraid for her well being. So should we go to hospital? We already cleaned and applied liquid bandage to it, along with Neosporin.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Good to know that you cleaned the wound & got it bandaged. If she already has got Injection Tetvac than there is nothing to worry. If not you may have to visit the ER. Just watch out if the cut is deep, clean & change the bandage every day, apply Neosporin or Polysporin. The wound should heal, if it is inflamed with an increase in swelling & pain visit ER, get her examined, she may need oral antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
