Suggest Treatment For Periodic Sharp, Stabbing Pain Below The Rib Cage

Hi..I have recently been experiencing periodic sharp, stabbing pain located below my rib cage in the center of my upper abdomen. The pain lasts for about an hour or so and is not very tolerable. Sometimes drinking something or eating something small will ease the discomfort.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This may be the area of the stomach , the stomach is located in the upper abdomen, centrally.

The pain may be due to reflux or ulceration in the stomach. It would be best to consider using reflux medication along with lifestyle changes to see if improvement occurs

Lifestyle changes would include : (1) small meals regularly instead of large meals
(2)reduced use of spicy/acidic or fatty foods
(3)reduced use of tomatoes, onions, mint, caffeine products

Medications such as nexium, prilosec, prevacid, prontonix, acidphex, may help

I hope this helps
