Every day i must take the bus to work and expose my self to allergens. I can not avoid them. Im allergic to pollen, dust, animals, and many other stuff. Every day at work, co-workers get angry for my constant sneezing and sniffling that never stop. Even in bed. I have tried many medications but only one has worked except that i refuse to take it everyday. Nasal washes dont work either.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Sandhya's Response
Hello! That sounds really uncomfortable.
unfortunately, there is nothing much one can do regarding allergies and trying to avoid them as much as posssible is one very important measure that might help. Since you need to go to work and travel and cannot avoid them completely, I would suggest you to cover your face, nose from inhaling them and avoiding exposure to them. Other option is using medications either in the form of an inhaler or a tablet preferably in the night and has been found to be helpful in preventing acute attacks. Taking an anti-allergy or anti-histamine helps prevent the symptoms temporarily. Nasal irrigation, nasal spray, steam inhalation can also be tried. Hope you feel better soon.
