Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend was hit by a softball today? While never blackout, there was nurses on seen check her over. And they said the only thing that worries us now. Is the pain os goong down to her shoulder. She has place on the goose egg as she put it. What we should we be worried about mainly?
After trauma, the pain can increase till it reaches a peak at day 2 to 3, then there it stabilizes and eventually starts to decrease. The swelling would also increase slowly till it reaches a peak then decrease.
Pain due to soft tissue injury can potentially last a few weeks, in some cases two though some persons may have lingering pain for a lot longer.
She should apply a cold compress to the area and also use anti inflammatory pain killers to help (eg ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam)
I hope this helps
