Suggest Treatment For Persistent Bronchitis

Yes I have never had bronchitis however I have been trying to get rid of it for almost 4 weeks. They have given me a Medrol dose pack s and anabiotic and I still have coughing and yellow phlegm. So I have actually been in the house for three weeks and ready to get out. However I understand it s very contagious so I have been very careful. I was just wondering if taking a few sessions in a UV bed would help dry this up. I m drinking lots of water and orange juice

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. As it is more than two weeks you should go for a sputum AFB test to rule out Tuberculosis and sputum culture and sensitivity for possibility of other infections and for findig susceptible antibiotics if required. If still everything is fine then spirometry test should be done to rule out COPD or asthma.
If usual infection and inflammation the medrol pack and antibiotic you are taking is enough to clear up. Have a follow up with your doctor if no improvement.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
