Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have brucelosis for a year and a half now. Received therapy once ( lasted 45 days, constisted of Ciprofloxacin and Doxycycline) . Showed no results, my titer has been the same ever since. I have no symptoms of the illness but it keeps showing up on my blood tests and it s always 1:1320. Any advice?
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.
Ask your physician for a prescription to add TMP/SMX+Rifampin combination therapy combined with Dexamethasone, and stop taking Doxycycline if not working anymore for you.
Follow-up is necessary to see the effectiveness of the treatment. I suggest you for the same.
Hope I answered all of your health concerns . If you have further questions in future, feel free to contact me anytime & I will get back to you in no time. Please give a positive feedback.
Have a wonderful time ahead.
Best Regards!
