Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
what are symptoms of pulmonary emboli? My son is having chest pains, worse with deep breathing, goes away in 10 seconds, has had this about 6 times. Dr is going to do a stress test and echocardiogram but they didn t do a chest xray. troponin and cardiac enzymes came back normal.
Thus type of presentation could be from pulmonary embolism or other cardiac causes....
Investigation done with.... -Tread mill test -echocardiography (2D) -if calf swelling present and pulmonary embolism suspected than investigate with d dimer along with echocardiography (CT angiography will be beneficial and confirmatory)
According to cause further specific treatment given...
If cardiac cause not present than spirometry and x ray like investigation done to rule out respiratory causes
Take care
Consult pulmonologoist for examination
