Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough After Flu Vaccination
I received my flu shot last Wednesday from my doctor s office. On Friday I stated with a cough and still have the cough almost a week later. I do not have a fever or other cold symptoms, although I feel tired and not 100%. I started taking Robitussen Cough and Chest Congestion DM last evening which has helped, particularly at night. The medicine has loosened up the mucous but has not made the coughing better. Should I still be patient and hope the cough will go away soon or should I contact my doctor s office?
It looks like you got Pharyngitis, which is irritating your throat & causing you to cough. Take an antihistamine, Levocetirizine to reduce throat allergy. Gargle with warm saline water three times a day. You can also use Listerine water for gargling. Take a course of antibiotic like Doxycycline. You are suggested to take all medications under a Consultant.
Do visit ER, get physically examined, evaluated & treated. You may have to give a Swab test for C/S. & CBC.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
