Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough And Wheezing
I have had a persistent cough and wheezing for a little more than 2 weeks. Saw a Dr on July 11 and was prescribed inhaler and singular. Yesterday added prednisone. Cough is less persistent but have hard coughing spells with the wheezing lasting several minutes. How long before I should expect better results
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Persistent cough and wheezing could be caused by many medical conditions: -Infectious causes includes mostly Viral and bacterial infections -Non-infectious causes include allergy or irritation from environmental polutants. Other non-infectious cases are found only in chronic conditions which is not your case. The treatment of your symptoms will however depend on the underlying cause.I am happy to hear you feel relieved with your inhaler and singular. The underlying cause of the problems is still unknown and recurrence is possible.I will suggest you get a swab test, chest X-ray and a full blood count test. This will help to identify the cause. You may again see your Doctor for further investigation if not yet done. In the meantime, Steam inhalation, gargling with warm water together with your inhaler and singular will make you feel batter. Hope my answer will you. Wish you a speedy recovery
