Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough

My 3 year old has had a persistent cough for about 2 weeks. Within the last 3 days, her cough has worsened. We ve been treating her with over the counter medicine. Hyland s Allergy, Similason Mucus and Cough, and Zarbee s Nighttime Cough, along with saline spray and a cool mist humidifier. Last night, I became very concerned as her airway became so blocked with congestion that she would stop breathing in her sleep. I gave her a breathing treatment of Albuterol as a precaution so we would not have to make a trip to the ER. Today, we went to the local Dr. (not a pediatrician). He prescribed her Prednizolone and Azithromycin. I noticed today that along with the expected hyperactivity, that she is very sweaty and has clammy skin. Would this additional symptom be something to be of concern or would it be typical of the new medication today? I read online about Pneumonia, and I wanted to check with a healthcare professional before becoming alarmed. Thank you for your help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome at HCM
i have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns....
Based upon the history you have provided it is difficult to corelate ... Is he running fever? Any chest pain? Any family history of asthma?
It may appear that he has got respiratory tract infection. He need to be examined and specifically look for any wheeze , and signs of consolidation.if am your attending physician I will get his FBC ,ESR and chest. Xray....after then I will be able to offer you treatment. .
As he has already been put on antibiotics ,you should continue with your medications for a week....if he is not responding , mean symptoms doesn't reduces after three days then meet Pediatrician for proper consultation...
Meanwhile stay calm and continue with your antibiotics and avoid cold drinks .
May he get well soon
